how to install AddOn 10/100/1000Base-TX(RJ-45) to 1000Base-LX(SC) SMF 1310nm 20km Managed Media Converter

Step 1: Plan the placement and cabling. Identify a secure, well-ventilated location for the converter in the network rack or on a stable desktop surface. Ensure your fiber and copper runs are routed cleanly with proper strain relief to avoid accidental disconnections or fiber damage.

Step 2: Connect the copper side. Attach the device you want to connect via Ethernet to the RJ-45 copper port on the media converter using a standard CAT6/6a/5e Ethernet cable. Confirm that the connecting devices are configured for compatible speed and duplex settings, or rely on auto-negotiation to select the optimal mode.

Step 3: Connect the fiber side. Plug a Single-Mode fiber optic cable with SC connectors into the SC fiber port. Align connectors carefully and ensure the fiber path is clean and free of dust. Secure the connection and avoid bending the fiber beyond its minimum bend radius to preserve signal integrity.

Step 4: Power up and initial check. Connect the power adapter to the converter and plug it into a powered outlet. Observe the status LEDs for power, copper link, and fiber link to verify basic connectivity. If the device does not power on, recheck the power connections and ensure the outlet supplies the correct voltage for the unit.

Step 5: Configure and verify management features. Access the web-based management interface using the converter’s IP address (as assigned via DHCP or statically configured). Enable VLANs, set QoS policies to prioritize critical traffic, and verify port statuses and link quality. Use SNMP to monitor performance and generate alerts, and review the event log to ensure stable operation. Conduct a simple end-to-end test by transferring data between the copper-connected device and a host on the fiber network to confirm proper latency, throughput, and error rates.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the primary use case for this converter?

This device is designed to bridge copper Ethernet networks with longer-range fiber links. It is ideal for upgrading campus backbones, data-center uplinks, or building-to-building connections while preserving existing RJ-45 devices that operate at 10/100/1000 Mbps.

  • What type of fiber and distance does it support?

The converter uses single-mode fiber (SMF) with a 1310 nm wavelength and can extend up to 20 kilometers, depending on fiber quality, connectors, and link budget. This makes it suitable for mid- to long-range fiber deployments.

  • Is this a PoE-capable device?

No. This model functions as a media converter and does not provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) on the copper port. Power is supplied through the external power source specified for the unit.

  • What management features are available?

It offers web-based management for configuration, VLAN tagging (802.1Q), QoS for traffic prioritization, and SNMP for remote monitoring and integration with network management systems. These features help engineers monitor link health, enforce policies, and optimize performance.

  • What installation considerations should I keep in mind?

Plan for proper cable routing to minimize strain on the fiber, ensure correct connector orientation, and verify that the fiber path is clean and undamaged. After installation, confirm that both copper and fiber links are active and monitor the link health through the management interface.

Awesome robo-vac/mop with rotating mop head/no pads.
Size: E25 Black
I owned a Narwal Freo for 1 year and it died right after the warranty period was up. Tried replacing the battery but that did not fix the issue so I had to purchase another one. I noticed this eufy had high reviews and the 1 star reviews seemed to be just isolated issues so I purchased this one. Right away I noticed that the instructions/setup was much more simple. Second this one has a big wide mop roller on the front and after mopping I didn't see the mop streaks in circular patterns on the floor like I did with the Narwal as it had two rotating mop heads on the front so the single mop roller seems to be a better solution. Setup consisted of removing protective wrappers off of the tanks and base station, filling up the clean water tank, installing the detergent bottle and plugging it in. Next I downloaded the app and connecting the vac/mop to my network. This was SIMPLE to say the least. From there I could have just clicked clean on the app and it would clean the entire house. However, mapping gives you more flexibility when planning your cleaning ritual. You can define no go zones and clean rooms in any order you choose. I have a shedding dog so I have a separate robovac to clean up the dog hair prior to vac/mopping. This is a MUST with any robovac/mop combo as the dog hair on the floor will mix with the water and detergent and eventually prevent the mop from doing a good job. It will make a mess in the bottom tray of the base station too. I learned this through experience and reading all the one star reviews from customers. Robovac only cleaners last a LONG time. I had one that is still working great for over 3 years. All I had to do was replace the battery so it doesn't have to pause the job to recharge. So the mapping only took 4 minutes and it was pretty accurate. After the mapping I defined the room boundaries and renamed the rooms. Next I sent it off to clean and it did a FABULOUS JOB! No streaks and the floors are clean. The noise level is really low and more quiet than the Narwal. The other thing I noticed is it didn't use up much water to rinse the mop while cleaning. The Narwal used a lot of water and I was always dumping dirty water and adding fresh. I will always have a robomop and robovac as they save me so much time by not having to do this job twice a week. Connectivity to my network is excellent as it's in a location far from the router. This vac/mop is a good value for the money if IT LASTS BEYOND 1 YEAR. I will update this review as necessary and if it fails right after the warranty period I will report and downgrade this review to 1 star. These companies need to learn the importance of reliability and correct these issues. When I first reviewed the NARWAL it had almost a perfect 5 star review from all customers. After the year was up and it failed that star rating went down to 3+ stars. Most reviews reported their robovac/mop just died like mine did after the warranty period. I downgraded my review and reported the issue. I'm hoping this one will last because at the moment I am VERY satisfied with it like most customers. This model has been on the market much longer at the time of purchase so I would suspect if there were any reliability flaws they would have been addressed and corrected by now. We shall see. At this time I highly recommend!!
